Interesting Desktop Backgrounds

These are desktop backgrounds which I have made. Most of them are really old and I finally decided to post them after they had been rotting on my hard drive for a long time. The ones with approximate dates are those (I used the creation time of the file and then fuzzified it because I'm not sure if actually finished the image then).

Gray Mosaic (2004-04-06)

Dimensions: 1920x1200

This was created for usage with a new Window Maker theme I am working on. It is a slight gradient which was pinched and twirled, pixelized (10x10), and then mosaicized with a few settings tweaked in the GIMP (pitted, 0.16 color variance, FG/BG lighting, Hexagonal tiles). It is 16:10 because my monitor is 16:10. The preview is a small section of the image because it is so huge.

GNU GPL Keycaps (2001-08-03)

Dimensions: 1024x768

This is the background I created for my pixel_GNU Window Maker theme. It has snippets of the GPL strewn about it, as well as "G N U" in a key caps font.

Nifty BG (Early 2002)

I created this background on the OS X box at school sometime in 2002. It ended up being the background on that machine for a good two years before the machine was formatted and upgraded to Panther. Perhaps one of my High School friends can reinstate the old background...:)

Face (Early 2002)

This is a bit weird...I had an old photo of someone I used to know lying around and I turned it into this one day long ago.

Lame FracFire (Late 2002)

Dimensions: 1600x1200

This was a quick and easy three layer image. I was playing with the Fractal Generator and Flame plugins in the GIMP a few months after I created Nifty BG.
