Once upon a time my mother found a kitten. This kitten was a very skittish tiny kitten and hid behind the fridge for days eluding capture. Thus my mother bestowed the quite American name Maytag upon the tiny gray kitten.

Eventually my mother accepted that her dog and the kitten would never get along, and the cat had taken a liking to me, and thus Maytag became my ward.

Now Maytag has been my cat buddy since January 2007.
